The Positive Feelings Memory Box

Have you ever noticed that when you think about certain experiences you have had, it can make you feel happy and positive? But when you think about other experiences it can make you feel bad or unhappy? Thinking about specific memories has a huge impact on how we feel. When we think about certain memories, we physically feel the same things that we felt at the time. Your brain believes that you are actually experiencing the situation rather than just thinking about it.

Knowing this can be very useful. You can change how you feel whenever you want to by thinking about specific memories. Why not create a ‘memory box’? Think of different memories you have which make you feel very positive. These positive feelings could include confidence, happiness, love, pride, or anything else useful for you to be able to draw upon.

Write down a brief description of each of these memories to help remind you of what happened and how you felt. Whenever anything good happens in the future, remember to write that experience down and put it in the box too.

Keep all these memories in your box so you can take them out and read them whenever you need a boost of positivity. You could use different coloured paper for different types of feelings you wish to feel.
